Successful schools engage in continuous school improvement processes. After participating in the LEAD Grant cohort, Stark County Elementary has elevated their positive school culture to one that centers around an inquiry-based school improvement process known as Cycles of Inquiry. Stark County Elementary is excited to present how, through distributed leadership, their Instructional Learning Team has focused on addressing student learning by changing teachers' instructional practices to meet the needs of ALL students. The process includes a deep dive into both academic and instructional data, the use of research to identify and adopt best practices, and a well constructed adult learning plan. School Improvement, when done within a trusted culture of inquiry, has proven to produce positive results seen throughout the entire Stark County Elementary School. Big changes have occurred in math, reading, and writing instruction that have and continue to produce positive outcomes for students and teachers. A look at the school improvement process and the instructional changes made at Stark County will be shared through the lens of how and why.
